As pioneers of radionuclide separation methods and resins since 1990 Eichrom has spent more than 30 years developing chromatography products and methods of separation and purification in the field of radiochemistry and creating a high level of expertise at Eichrom. Our proprietary products are the global standard for laboratory analysis of actinides and beta-emitting fission products. They are routinely used for environmental monitoring and internal dosimetry programs at nuclear facilities in over 150 countries and on all 7 continents.

Eichrom is licensed to work with radioactive materials in our facility in suburban Chicago. All our products are manufactured under an ISO 9001 standard quality system.

As experts in chromatography, column packing and packaging, and radiochemistry, we have long supported the chemical separation and purification needs of organizations involved in radiopharmaceutical R&D and production. We apply our experience base to solve customer problems with both proprietary and commercially available separation media.

Extraction Chromatography Resins

Eichrom offers a wide variety of extraction chromatography (EXC) resins. Resins are available in four particle sizes 25-50 mm (f-grade), 50-100 mm (s-grade), 100-150 mm (a-grade), and 300-800 mm (I-grade). EXC resins are available as prepacked cartridges and columns or bulk resin. Eichrom offers 5 cartridge options: QML (0.25 mL), HML (0.50 mL), 1 mL, 2 mL and MC7 (7 mL), and slurry packed 2 mL gravity flow columns. Empty 2 mL, 5 mL and 20 mL columns, column reservoirs and column racks may also be purchased through Eichrom.

DGA Resins

Two versions of DGA resin are offered by Eichrom, DGA, normal (n-octyl) and DGA, branched (2-ethyl-1-hexyl). The DGA resins facilitate the separation of many key nuclear medicine radionuclides, including actinium-225 (Ac-225), terbium-161 (Tb-161), lutetium-177 (Lu-177), yttrium-90 (Y-90), Y-86, Sc-44 and Sc-47. Additional applications of DGA resins include the separation of actinides, rare earths, polonium and alkaline earth metal ions.

LN Series Resins

The LN series of resins (LN, LN2, and LN3), based on functionalized organophosphorous extractants, facilitate the separation of Tb-161, Lu-177, Ce-134, Zr-89, and other emerging lanthanide radionuclides with potential use in nuclear medicine applications.

Sr Resin

Sr resin contains 4,4′(5′)-di-t-butylcyclohexano 18-crown-6 in 1-octanol on an inert polymeric support. Applications of Sr resin include production of Y-90 and Sr-82(Rb-82), and analytical methods for Sr-89/90, Pb-210, and Po-210 in a variety of sample matrices.

Pb Resin

Pb resin contains 4,4′(5′)-di-t-butylcyclohexano 18-crown-6 in isodecanol on an inert polymeric support. Applications of lead resin include the production of Pb-212 and Pb-203, and analytical methods for lead isotopes in a variety of sample matrices.

TEVA® Resin

TEVA resin contains a liquid strong base anion exchanger (aliquat 336) on an inert polymeric support. Applications of TEVA resin include the purification of Th-229 and Th-228, plutonium, and neptunium and analytical methods for the actinides and Tc-99 in variety of sample matrices.

WBEC Resin

WBEC resin contains a liquid weak base anion exchanger (alamine 336) on an inert polymeric support. Applications of WBEC resin include the production of copper radioisotopes and analytical methods for Tc-99 in a variety of matrices.

Ion Exchange Resins

Eichrom offers strong acid cation exchange resin and strong base anion exchange resins. Ion exchange resins are offered on 4% and 8% cross-linked styrene divinyl benzene polymers in 3 different particle sizes: 200-400 mesh (f-grade), 100-200 mesh (m-grade), and 50-100 mesh (c-grade). Ion exchange resins are offered as bulk 500 gram bottles and selected pre-packed columns and cartridges.

SPE materials

Eichrom offers a wide range of solid phase extraction materials based on inorganic substrates (silica and alumina). The SPE materials are available in QML, HML, 1 mL and 2 mL cartridges commonly used by radiopharmacies in nuclear medicine production.

QMA Silica

QMA silica contains a strong base anion exchange (SAX) functionality (quaternary amine) on porous silica. The QMA resin is available in two forms: chloride (CL) and bicarbonate (BC). Applications of the QMA resin include separation of F-18 from proton irradiated H218O prior to synthesis of PET radiopharmaceuticals.

CM Silica

CM silica contains a weak cation exchange (WCX) functionality (carboxylate) on porous silica. The unique bonding chemistry imparts a lower pKa to the carboxylate, allowing the CM silica to retain metal ions from a wider pH range than many other WCX materials. Applications of CM silica include the concentration of nuclear medicine radionuclides from buffer solutions and production of 44Sc, 47Sc, 203Pb and 212Pb. The high purity of the CM silica ensures good radiolabeling efficiency when used in radionuclide production.

C18 Silica and tC18 Silica

C18 and tC18 silicas contain octadecyl functional groups on porous silica. The hydrophobic C18 and tC18 can be used to scavenge organic impurities and in the cassette-based production of radiopharmaceuticals such as FDG.

SCX Silica

SCX silica contains a strong acid cation exchange (SCX) functionality on a porous silica. Applications of the SCX silica include the purification of 68Ga from 68Ge based generators, the concentration of nuclear medicine radionuclides from dilute acid and conversion of nuclear medicine radionuclides from dilute acid to buffer solutions suitable for radiolabeling. The high purity of the SCX silica ensures good radiolabeling efficiency when used in radionuclide production.

Alumina

Eichrom offers basic(B), neutral(N) and radiopharmaceutical(R) grade aluminas in prepacked cartridges. Alumina is utilized in cassette-based production of PET radiopharmaceuticals and other nuclear medicine applications to adsorb polar impurities and certain unbound radionuclides and buffer the pH of solutions neutralized with cation and anion exchange resins.
